Handles Project

Planning:

To plan for this project I knew I wanted to make a mug with handles, I just didn't quite know what design to do. I researched on Pinterest and found these mugs with bows on them. I loved that idea so I decided to do it, and I made it pink because it's my favorite color.

Description:

To make this the first step was to get my clay and wedge it. I then made a slab and put it around a cup to get the right shape. Once my mug was smooth, I added the handle by rolling it out and scoring, and slipping it on. Next, I formed the bow and added it on, then painted it pink and fired it, then overglazed it.

Reflection:

I love this project. I think its very me and very cute. Pink is my favorite color and I love bows so this is just special to me. I think its my favorite piece I have made, I spent a lot of time on it and I'm very proud of it.

Next level slab/ Poem response

Planning:

To plan for this piece, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do. As usual, I looked on Pinterest for some inspiration. I found a piece that looked cool so I wanted to try and repeat it. I didn't recreate it exactly but it inspired me.

Description:

My first step was to get some clay and wedge it. I then rolled it out into a circle and then rolled it into a slab. Then I found my mold, wrapped it around, and brought the two sides together. After that, I took it out of the mold and made the bottom, and as it was sculpted I painted the sun and the mountains and carved out the spots where its lower. Then I painted it white and fired it.

Reflection:

This was my poem piece, and I liked it. I didn't really have any problem while making it or sculpting it. However, after I fired it some of the paint started flaking off and I wasn't sure how to fix it. I like this piece though, I think it's pretty and I like the sun. I could probably use this as a vase, or a cup. I would probably rather use it as a cup. Overall, I like this piece but it isn't my favorite that I have made.

Set of 4

Planning:

To plan for this project I drew on a piece of scratch paper what I wanted to do. I originally had the design with flowers on it instead of stars but I changed it because I thought the stars looked better. I also knew I wanted to make it pink and darker pink.

Description:

To make this I started by wedging my clay and splitting it into 4. I then made each of my teacups by making a pinch pot and adding the handles. Then, once I made all of them I added on the stars and tried to make them look even. After that, I underglazed it, then fired it and overglazed it.

Reflection:

I liked this but it kinda annoyed me to make it. I kept making the cups super uneven and I kept messing up

2d art made 3d

Planning: To plan for this piece, I looked up master paintings. I found the water lily painting and I loved it so I decided I wanted to base mine off that. I also knew I wanted to make one big water lily, not a bunch of small ones.

Description: To make this piece, I first started by making my slab. I just rolled it out with a rolling pin. Next I made all the petals and the flower and put it together. I then underglazed it and fired it. I didn't quite get to clear glazing it.

Reflection: I do really like this piece. It's very pretty and very on point for me. I like the colors and the original painting that it's inspired by. I was a little bit disappointed that the flower fell off the slab and that I didn't get to clear glaze it, but I still like it.
